I've had less than four hours sleep.

Egypt is officially classified by the World Bank as a lower-middle-income country and considered a developing nation with a growing economy and improving Human Development Index score...

What a load of BS.

They aren't doing anything to help their people get ahead - they're keeping them small.

Yesterday, once again, Ahmed and I went around in circles trying to find a way for him to get paid for his artwork and to send his pieces of art to clients at a reasonable price (currently it’s US $70 just to ship one A3 drawing to the US).

We think we’ve found a solution… and then it blows up in our faces. Again.

I’ve honestly spent two full days trying to solve what takes you and me about five minutes: to move money, pay a bill, send a package.

This is what corruption looks like. This is what inequality looks like. And it makes me sick.

And before anyone emails me with suggestions ~ we’ve tried them all: Western Union, Wise, PayPal, Remitly, US bank accounts, Egyptian pound accounts. At every turn, there’s another roadblock.

• Continue to grow his art business without the chokehold of Egypt’s banks.
